Morocco, a destination making the top of many travel bucket lists, offers a diverse landscape. Everything from mountains to sea, and desert to red cliffs, this country consistency is portrayed through culture and cuisine. While many travel to hike and adventure through the Sahara desert or High Atlas Mountains, too often luxury is overlooked. With the association of camels, dancing cobra snakes, or mountain trekking as a major tourism factors, I’m going to take you down a different route to experience the beautiful boutique hotels of Morocco.
Villas des Orangers Hotel in Marrakech
Location: Marrakech
If you are lucky to be in Marrakech, you are lucky enough, however if you find yourself at Villas des Orangers Hotel- it is an experience of a lifetime. This 5-star boutique hotel offers everything from the best restaurant in Morocco, to spa services, and pool, along with private rooftop suites complete with outdoor shower, lounge chairs, and breakfast or wine service. I enjoy boutique hotels, and this ranks up there in my top 15 of charming properties across the globe. I loved it so much, I would skip the Marrakech markets and spend a couple days of complete and total relaxation engulfed by the warmth of Villas des Orangers.

Fez Hats for “Do Not Disturb” sign on door.
Kasbah du Toubkal
Location: High Atlas Mountains
Known as one of National Geographics Unique Lodges of the World, this hotel is surrounded by scenes of the High Atlas Mountains. Explore the oldest village in Africa, trek or donkey ride to the entrance, and enjoy traditional food and high mint tea at this lovely lodge. Most of Morocco is dry (no alcohol), and this rings true at the lodge. If you will be visiting and enjoy wine, ask your driver to stop by a liquor store to bring your own wine with you. Enjoy a steam in the Haman (local steam bath) and indulge in the traditional breakfast with breads and nut butter.
What I Loved:
Heated Flooring in Room

Hike with Traditional Food Picnic
Ksar Ighnda Hotel
Location: Ouarzazate – Edge of Desert
The accommodations are lovely, and after traveling a few days, I was ready for some R&R, and a cocktail. This gorgeous boutique on the edge of the desert, feels as though it is in the middle of nowhere, yet it offers all the necessities you would expect of a boutique hotel- spa, luxury shower, cuisine, bar, picturesque pool, and trinket shopping. The hotel is refreshing. Dinner and breakfast are served buffet style, most likely due to the amount of bus tours coming through the area.
What I Loved:
Enjoying a cocktail
Decor and Landscape
Sipping Coffee on the Patio
Villa Mandarine
Location: Rabat
Nestled just outside the hustle and bustle of the capital city of Rabat, is the breathtaking oasis of Villa Mandarine. I wish I had more time to explore the 3 acres gardens. Accommodations are nestled in the heart of an orange grove, and lovely. This charming family home from times past is a beautiful spot to relax and escape city life. And, the restaurant is 4-star- review can be read here.
What I Loved:
The Gardens
Villa Mandarine Restaurant
Spacious Bath
Palais Farag Hotel
Location: Fez
Located near the medina of Fez, this 5-star boutique hotel is also complete with a beautiful dining experience. When accommodation and restaurant both offer quality and consistency, it makes it easy to fall in love with the experience. A beautiful private drive leading to the door, and tiled decor with modern twists, will leave you enchanted. The hotel is the largest of those I stayed, however with its offerings, I would still rate it boutique for Morocco accommodations.
